Classes and Workbox
Check supply list before coming to class. Remember to bring your workbox to every class or club.
For your convenience, workbox items are available to purchase at A Small Cleverness. If you do not own class supplies or, if you forget to bring needed items, purchases may be made before or during a class. Bring scissors, tape, tape runner, bone folder, foam tape, glue stick, glue pen, small watercolor brush or water brush, white craft glue (the Ultimate or Mono Adhesive).
You may find the following items to be useful also: black marker, pencil, ruler, stylus, permanent black ink pad, 1/8" hole punch, dental floss threader, Xacto knife with new blade, small cutting mat, double-sided tape, disposable gloves, wet wipes, a scoring board, and a small paper trimmer.
Reminder
Please refrain from wearing any kind of scents in the shop if you are a shopper or you are taking a class. It is objectionable to those with sensitive noses and/or health conditions. Please turn cell phones off during class. Cell phone conversations are not allowed. Please step outside to check messages or to make calls. Please arrive on time. Don’t forget your glasses. Thanks for your consideration.
May Paper Crafting Clubs
Meet new paper-crafting friends and trade tips and techniques. These informal groups begin with show-and-tell, followed by homework and a new assignment for the following month. A make-and-take ends the session. Choose the day and time below that best fits your schedule. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced stampers are all welcome. Bring workbox.

Welcome to a new program from Hero Arts centered around a monthly theme. For May it is “Birthday.” The program features a collection of card ideas and other projects. Make three cards and take home an idea sheet and a free giveaway while supplies last. From cakes to treats, messages to bright colors, celebrate birthday fun with “May Birthday” from Hero Arts. Guest instructor Karen Lockhart from California is coming on May 18 and 19. Learn her step-by-step process of coloring with Prismacolor pencils. She will bring 1000’s of colored pencils for class use.
Karen and her husband Scott own Lockhart Stamp Company. It is nestled in the wine growing region of southern Sonoma County. All the images are created by Karen. Inspiration comes from her sense of humor and love of flowers, family, and friends. The Lockhart Stamp Company is very proud that their stamps are made from start to finish in the USA.
Karen declares, “Having the stamp company is the best job in the whole world. I get to draw, color, and create cards and then travel and teach others to do what I love.”

Advanced Colored Pencils

You have taken one of Karen Lockhart’s classes and you want more, more, more! This class is for you. Each student will build on her skills while developing three techniques. Grisaille is putting down a grey half tone and then color. Chalk board is working with white on black paper. Doodle is black line work added to images with color added. This workshop will be provided with many additional images on which to work. Karen will bring all pencils needed for class. “Introduction to Colored Pencils” class is a pre-requisite for this class.
Stylus and Colored Pencil

Once you have learned about colored pencil techniques, the next step is the magic of stylus! Karen will teach you to add texture and pattern with the stylus tool that is a delight to watch develop. Karen provides a work sheet and plenty of images on which to experiment. You will love this magical technique! Don’t miss this final class in the series. Students will find it helpful to bring their own high-intensity lamps and extension cords to class. Copic Marker Coloring

Copic markers are alcohol markers used by illustrators, designers, cartoonists, and more recently, paper crafters. They are smooth, vibrant, blendable, and designed to last many years. You will learn the basics of choosing colors and blending techniques. Beginners are encouraged to attend.
If you have experience with Copic markers, you are invited to come and review your knowledge.
Mary Ellen will create two beautifully colored and layered cards you will enjoy. Classes are held in the spacious classroom next door where Mary Ellen projects her work on the wall for excellent visibility. Bring workbox. Ask for marker list when you register.

Beautiful Bottles

Transform an ordinary bottle into an extraordinary treasure for your home! Learn how to copper tape and solder a bottle. Then add rubber stamping and embellishments to create a work of art that is truly “you.” A selection of large bottles and some embellishments will be provided.
It will be helpful to choose a theme before you come to class. This will give you the opportunity to collect personal items and embellishments to enhance your theme and make your bottle unique. Some suggestions for themes are the following: the beach, steampunk, vintage sewing, nature, a special memory, an event, or a loved one. The possibilities are wonderfully endless.
Bring items like buttons, shells, watch parts, keys, broken jewelry, lace, and Tim Holtz items (available at A Small Cleverness). Be sure to bring a larger item to use as a bottle stopper like a door knob, prism, doll torso, drawer pull, etc. Rubber stamping will be included in this project. Some stamps will be provided, but you may bring some favorite stamps that compliment your theme.
Bring workbox, black permanent inkpad, round-nose pliers, chain-nose pliers, and wire cutters (available at A Small Cleverness). Optional to bring: soldering iron and solder.
