Silk Painting: Floral Scarf

Learn to paint using the French Serti method with modern silk paints that are permanently heat set with an iron. It is so easy, with none of the fuss and mess of steam setting dyes. The new scarf design features lovely flowers and leaves on a 21-inch square habotai silk scarf. A sample is on display at the shop. Try “wet on wet” technique that flows and blends, and then “wet on dry” for layering color intensity. This is a two-hour express class. The scarf will already have both the image outline and the gutta outline completed for you. In addition, all materials are provided. Class fee includes use of paints, brushes, gutta, markers, frame, and scarf.

Our year-long club has only two sessions left. Opportunities to take advantage of this special value are almost over.
Create 12 cards using a monthly Basic Grey kit consisting of 12" x 12" designer cardstock, 6" x 6" paper pads, and a selection of embellishments. Rubber stamping and e-mailed color directions are included. Some work can be completed at home. Allow three or more hours of shop time to complete the cards. Two sheets of alphabet and design stickers make it possible to create 12 additional cards, if you choose. It is advised that kits be picked up before class to precut papers. These monthly gatherings are a great value and offer the fun and camaraderie of creating with others. Bring a 12" personal trimmer and workbox.

Come learn the basics of working with this exciting medium and create an exquisitely embellished glass orb to display in your home. In this class, especially geared toward the beginner, we will learn how to condition polymer clay and make two Skinner blends. The blends will be used to create a flower petal cane and a leaf cane, slices of which will be used to adorn a glass ornament. Each student will go home with enough prepared material to decorate many more ornaments. All supplies including 7 colors of polymer and a glass ornament are included in the class fee. Bring a sack lunch and workbox. Optional to bring: pasta machine and clay blade.

Please refrain from wearing any kind of scents in the shop. It is objectionable to those with sensitive noses and/or health conditions.
For your convenience, workbox items are available to purchase at A Small Cleverness. If you do not own class supplies or, if you forget to bring needed items, purchases may be made before or during a class. Bring scissors, tape, tape runner, bone folder, foam tape, glue stick, and white craft glue (not Elmer’s). You may find the following items to be useful also: black marker, pencil, ruler, stylus, permanent black ink pad, 1/8" hole punch, dental floss threader, X-acto knife with new blade, small cutting mat, small watercolor paint brush, double-sided tape, and disposable gloves.
Prepaid registration is required. Names cannot be placed on class lists until payment is received. No refunds can be issued for any class cancellations. A store credit will be issued for a class fee taught by a local instructor only if notification of cancellation is made 48 hours prior to class time. A class kit, as complete as possible, due to the nature of the class, will be given to students who cancel a class less than 48 hours prior to class time. For out-of-town instructors, cancellations received prior to 5 days will result in a store credit. Students who cancel a class less than 5 days prior to class time will receive a class kit, as complete as possible. For out-of-state instructors, the criterion is one week for a credit, less than one week for a kit. A Small Cleverness reserves the right to cancel any class (with full refund) for lack of minimum attendance. Class fees can be paid in person, with a charge card by phone, or with a check by mail. Please include class name and date.
